Overview
Megan has defended major United States (U.S.) corporations against hundreds of threatened and litigated class actions, multidistrict litigation (MDL) and other complex matters throughout the U.S, with particular emphasis on consumer class actions and financial service disputes. Megan is often called upon to dig into a case when the facts and the law truly present unique or difficult challenges.
As a former co-chair of one of the firm’s most prominent litigation divisions, chair of its recruiting committee, and member of its diversity committee, Megan has an in-depth knowledge of firm resources. She is committed to resourcing each matter with the best-matched and most well-rounded team.
Experience
Defended a number of consumer class action claims brought under a host of state consumer protection laws, including California’s tripartite Consumer Legal Remedies Act (CLRA), False Advertising Law (FAL), and Unfair Competition Law (UCL), Missouri’s Merchandising Practices Act (MMPA), and New York’s General Business Law §§ 349 and 350.
Secured a number of motions to dismiss consumer class actions alleging false advertising and/or deceptive practices under various state laws, including CLRA, FAL, UCL and MMPA.
Led the defense of numerous bank clients against multimillion-dollar lender liability claims alleging causes of action, including breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraud, MMPA violations, and negligence.
Successfully represented a Fortune 100 health insurer with the largest bid procurement in the State of Kansas, resulting in the insurer’s retention of a $3 billion contract.
Assisted in defending MDL class action claims against a Fortune 100 infant care company pertaining to alleged chemical risks associated with use of the company’s products. Nation- and state-wide class certifications were denied, including alleged MMPA violations.
