Stinson Adds Former Federal Prosecutor Dan Bobier to Financial Services and Class Action Practice Division

Stinson LLP is pleased to welcome Dan Bobier to the firm's Financial Services and Class Action Practice Division. Bobier joins the firm after serving as an Assistant United States Attorney in Minnesota, where he prosecuted public corruption and fraud cases. He brings extensive trial experience and knowledge of government investigations to the division's nationally recognized practice.

Bobier advises clients in complex and high-stakes disputes in state and federal court, combining insights gained from his government service and past work in private practice. He counsels clients on compliance and litigation risk and on trial strategy, particularly in the financial services, investment funds, and technology sectors.

At the U.S. Attorney's Office, Bobier chiefly prosecuted government-benefits fraud and financial crimes. He served as trial counsel for the United States in the Feeding Our Future trials, a 75+ defendant conspiracy resulting in the theft of more than $250 million in taxpayer funds meant for needy children during the pandemic. He also prosecuted an unprecedented jury bribery conspiracy, thefts from lenders and financial institutions, and sprawling fraud schemes targeting Medicare programs. Bobier's experiences equip him with first-hand knowledge in how the government undertakes investigations and makes enforcement decisions about individual and corporate targets alike.

Prior to his role as a federal prosecutor, Bobier was a partner at an international law firm in Chicago, where he represented corporations and high-net-worth individuals in complex commercial litigation, internal investigations, and regulatory matters. His experience includes defending against False Claims Act litigation, class action allegations, and fraud and bad-faith claims charging principals with self-dealing and breaches of duty. He also helped clients handicap litigation risk and sort through compliance shortcomings through internal investigations.

Bobier earned his J.D. from Stanford Law School, and he clerked in the federal district court in Chicago. He is admitted to practice law in Illinois and several federal courts, and he is pursuing licensure in Minnesota.
