Stinson LLP Partner Michael Kaplan has been named to the St. Louis Small Business Monthly "Top M&A Providers" list for 2025, a reader-nominated distinction highlighting leading professionals in mergers and acquisitions in St. Louis.

In the feature, Kaplan shares practical guidance for business owners preparing to sell, advising, "Make sure your financial statements are accurate and properly reflect performance of the business. Collect and organize corporate records, contracts, leases, employment agreements, non-compete agreements, insurance policies, handbooks, etc., and update those documents where appropriate."

Kaplan’s practice focuses on corporate and business law, mergers and acquisitions, taxation and estate planning. He advises clients on corporate structure, governance and operations, negotiates transactions involving stock purchases, mergers, asset acquisitions, joint ventures, buyouts, recapitalizations, spin-offs and reorganizations, and provides individual and business tax planning services. His estate planning work also encompasses business succession and post-mortem tax strategies. Kaplan also serves as managing partner of Stinson’s St. Louis office and is a member of the firm’s board of directors.
