Kris advises clients on complex and strategically important energy and infrastructure projects and transactions.

Overview

Kris' experience spans renewable energy, natural gas, and battery energy storage projects, as well as infrastructure projects such as logistics facilities and railways. He has represented public and private power companies, sponsors, developers and investors on domestic and cross-border matters across the United States, Asia-Pacific and the Middle East.

Kris assists clients throughout the lifecycle of energy projects and investments, including development, financing and operational matters, as well as acquisitions and divestments.

Earlier in his career, Kris worked in mergers and acquisitions tax at a global accounting firm, where he performed tax due diligence and advised on tax structuring for domestic and cross-border acquisitions.

Experience

  • Represented a public power company in the acquisition of an additional 10% ownership interest in a 980 MW natural gas-fired cogeneration facility in New Jersey, following the client's initial acquisition of a 28% ownership interest in the facility.
  • Represented a public power company in connection with its investment in a 49% stake in a portfolio of two renewable energy projects with a combined capacity of 251 MW.
  • Represented a public power company in connection with the divestment of its 49% stake in the parent company of a 609 MW natural gas-fired combined-cycle power plant in Rhode Island.
  • Represented a public power company in connection with the acquisition of a 50% membership interest in a portfolio of three operating gas-fired combined-cycle power facilities in the northeastern United States, with a combined capacity of 1,325 MW.
  • Represented a U.S. subsidiary of a Thai public company in its acquisition of a project company developing a 100 MWh BESS project in Houston, Texas.
  • Represented a Philippine Corporation in its acquisition of a 49% equity interest in the holding company of a major renewable energy portfolio in Vietnam.
  • Served as project and financing counsel to sponsors and a developer in connection with the development and financing of a logistics dry port and connecting railway between Laos and Vietnam.
  • Served as project and financing counsel to a multinational group of sponsors in connection with the development and financing of a 600 MW cross-border wind project spanning Laos and Vietnam.
