Managing Partner Allison Murdock is featured in KC Counselor's article, "Profiles in Leadership: Breaking the Glass Scales, A Look at KC's Women Lawyers in Law Firm Leadership." The article in the monthly magazine of Kansas City Metropolitan Bar Association features nine women law firm leaders.

"I had the opportunity pretty early on to get an understanding of the business of a law firm and what it meant to operate as a business," Murdock said. "I think that is crucial for everyone, whether they are interested in leadership, or to succeed in a law firm."

The profile of Murdock focuses on her transition to Managing Partner, leadership roles she assumed early in life, the importance of relationship building and how gender affects her leadership style in her current role.

"For me, having been part of the leadership, albeit in different roles for so long, I have developed relationships where I am serving as a leader," Murdock said. "So whether it is having difficult conversations or encouraging different types of behavior, people know me and know my style, so it is not as new."

Murdock serves as the managing partner of Stinson LLP and holds ultimate responsibility for all aspects of the firm's operations and performance, including development and implementation of the firm's strategic initiatives. Her focus is on leading and growing a client-focused and community-engaged firm. In addition to serving as the firm's managing partner, Murdock is a member of its board of directors and executive committee.
