Stinson LLP Partner Amy Conway was featured in Bench & Bar of Minnesota's pro bono spotlight, recognizing her dedication to volunteer work and efforts to ensure access to justice for children. Conway has volunteered with the Children's Law Center of Minnesota (CLC) for more than 15 years, a commitment that began while she was a law student at the University of Minnesota.

In the feature, Conway reflects on the importance of pro bono work in supporting vulnerable populations and providing meaningful guidance to clients navigating the child protection system. "There are so many valuable and important pro bono cases, but I particularly love working with children because I want them to be able to see that their voice matters early on," Conway said. "I also love being able to just be a mentor and hopefully a consistent adult resource in these kids' lives."

Conway's pro bono practice involves representing children and youths from initial stages of child protection cases through finding safe, permanent solutions when reunification isn't possible. She emphasizes the value of advocating for the children themselves and ensuring their voices are heard in court. "CLC believes firmly, as do I, that the child should have a seat at the table when adults in the courtroom are talking about what happens to them. As CLC says, the smallest voice in the courtroom should be the loudest," Conway noted.

Her work with CLC allows Conway to engage directly with the kind of meaningful legal work that drew her to the legal profession. "I've learned how important it is to keep learning and doing things that make you remember why you wanted to be an attorney in the first place," she said.
