Barrientos Honored by Missouri Lawyers Media with Diversity & Inclusion Award
Stinson LLP Partner Brittany Barrientos has been recognized by Missouri Lawyers Media with a 2025 Diversity & Inclusion Award. Barrientos is one of 15 attorneys to receive this honor.
The Diversity & Inclusion Award recognizes attorneys, judges, law firms and other legal organizations that are significantly advancing diversity, equity and inclusion (DEI) in Missouri’s legal profession and in communities in which exceptional legal work helps ensure justice for all.
"Brittany’s dedication to advancing DEI both within our firm and in the broader legal community is truly inspiring," said Kimberly Hulsey, Chief Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Officer at Stinson. "Her mentorship—both formal and informal—of young Stinson attorneys reflects the core values of our firm and strengthens our commitment to a more inclusive and equitable legal profession."
Since joining the firm in 2011, Barrientos has championed DEI through various initiatives. As co-chair of the Attorneys of Color Employee Resource Group, she has played a pivotal role in creating programs that nurture professional growth and leadership opportunities for diverse attorneys. She also served on the firm’s diversity committee and co-led the recruiting committee, spearheading innovative recruitment strategies that have helped attract a broad range of talented legal professionals.
Beyond the firm, Barrientos has dedicated her efforts to several key organizations supporting diversity in the legal field. She has served in various roles aimed at increasing diversity in the legal field, including serving as a long-time board member of the Diverse Attorney Pipeline Program, as vice-chair of the Missouri Bar’s Committee on Diversity and on the Special Committee on Lawyers of Color. Additionally, she was a Fellow in the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity and remains active within the LCLD Fellows network. First-hand experience strengthened her interest in figuring out how to keep parents in the workforce, and she is particularly invested in finding ways to do quality work while still having time with her daughters. Her family enjoys working with organizations that support families such as Operation Breakthrough, Foster Adopt Connect, reStart and Free Hot Soup.
Barrientos’ practice centers on advising clients on environmental and safety law matters and she is a trusted member of our client’s teams. You can find her speaking on these issues across the country. Brittany also actively contributes to the Kansas City community. She is a graduate of the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce Centurions program and is the Board Chair and founding board member of The Beacon, Kansas City’s nonprofit newsroom. She also served on the boards of Junior Achievement of Greater Kansas City and the Kansas City Friends of Alvin Ailey.
