Working Mother Honors Stinson as One of the “Best Law Firms for Women”

Press Release
09.08.2020

Working Mother revealed its 2020 “Best Law Firms for Women” list today, recognizing firms that utilize best practices in finding, retaining, promoting and developing women lawyers. Stinson LLP is among the 60 firms on this year’s list.

"This recognition affirms our commitment to making Stinson a great place to work for everyone," said Ann Jenrette-Thomas, Stinson's chief diversity and inclusion officer. "Diversity, equity and inclusion is one of Stinson's core values and strategic initiatives, and we will continue to strive to create a workplace where women can thrive."

Firms are ranked based on female representation, access to parental support programs and support for women's advancement. Among ranked firms, on average almost half of associates and more than a third of partners are women, with firms increasingly offering and encouraging attorneys to use extended parental-leave benefits.

“Law firms on this year’s list were better prepared to respond to the effects of the pandemic because of their continued support of flextime and remote work for working parents and caregivers,” said Subha V. Barry, president of Working Mother Media (WMM). “We are proud to recognize their resilience and steadfast commitment to supporting gender equality.”

This recognition builds on Stinson's diversity and inclusion initiatives, which are led by Jenrette-Thomas. Stinson's efforts aim to create a diverse and welcoming environment for all, with flexible work policies, employee resource groups, and programs centered on career success and advancement.

Most recently, Stinson was also recognized by the Women In Law Empowerment Forum as a 2020 Gold Standard Firm, recognized as one of the top 100 law firms for women by Women Inc. magazine, and received top marks in the Human Rights Campaign's 2020 Corporate Equality Index.

WMM publishes Working Mother magazine and its companion website, workingmother.com, with a mission to serve as a champion of culture change. Working Mother magazine is the only national magazine for career-committed mothers.
