Stinson Grows Banking Practice with Two Attorneys in Kansas City

Stinson LLP welcomes attorneys Michelle Fox and Tom Witherspoon to the Banking and Financial Services practice in Kansas City. Both attorneys bring experience in consumer lending, financial technology and litigation, counseling clients in Missouri and across the country.

With a background as in-house counsel, as a private practitioner and as a Missouri Assistant Attorney General, Fox counsels on matters related to risk management, financial services litigation and strategic planning, financial communications, regulatory negotiations and investigations, and daily banking and financial services operations. She will also continue to provide guidance on the evolving third-party risk management requirements for financial institutions and service providers. Fox supports and advises business leaders on legal and regulatory compliance matters, including credit reporting, collections, customer service, form and contract development, and CFPB matters. She has assisted on numerous consumer claims brought under FDCPA, FCRA, TCPA, TILA and state consumer protection acts. 

Witherspoon brings experience in a wide variety of compliance, financial transactional and litigation matters. He has worked with banks and other financial institutions on product development and compliance management. He focuses on consumer finance, fair lending and FinTech. He helps clients navigate the complexities of federal and state law and regulation applicable to their operations, relationships and products.
