Scott Hecht Interviewed by Law360 on Cyberattack Class Suits
Partner Scott Hecht was recently quoted in a Law360 article concerning insurance coverage for privacy class actions and other losses associated with cyberattacks on hospital systems. According to the article, legal analysts say that cybersecurity class actions bring "unpredictable financial costs." Scott added how hospital systems present a "target rich environment" as their databases carry a wealth of information like names, addresses, social security numbers, financial information and other records that are enticing to hackers. "The good news is that cyber insurance coverage is available for many losses associated with cyberattacks," Scott stated. "While ten years ago, most businesses didn't have dedicated cyber coverage, now it's becoming the rule rather than the exception."
Scott is leader of the firm's insurance litigation practice group. He represents businesses in litigating insurance claims and advising on insurance issues. Scott's experience spans the full range of business insurance policies, including Cyber; Directors & Officers; Errors & Omissions; Employment Practices; Fiduciary; Pollution; Property/Business Interruption; Product Recall and Contamination; Commercial General Liability; and Crime Policies. He is a fellow of the American College of Coverage Counsel.
