With a focus in construction law, Colby's experience extends to both contract and litigation matters.

Overview

Colby drafts and negotiates contracts for property owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and architects on both public and private jobs. He has extensive experience working with the American Institute of Architects (AIA) forms as well as ConsensusDocs and Design Build Institute of America (DBIA) forms, and drafting custom contracts from scratch.

He also has litigation experience in both state and federal court representing clients of all tiers in construction disputes, from filing and defending $30,000 liens and prosecuting $60,000 breach of contract actions to defending $60,000,000 construction defect claims. He also has experience in product liability defense litigation. During law school, Colby served as a legal intern to the Honorable Kathryn H. Vratil of the U.S. District Court of Kansas City, Kansas.
