Lariss strives to take the weight of litigation off of clients’ shoulders so they can focus on business.
Overview
Lariss is a trial lawyer who prides herself in delivering effective client service. She has handled cases across a range of industries and in a range of areas of complex litigation, including product liability, consumer fraud, bankruptcy litigation, fiduciary liability, insurance overpayments and fraud, and commercial disputes.
Lariss has worked in house as an associate general counsel at a Fortune 5 company. She supported the Special Investigations Unit on Fraud, Waste, and Abuse cases, including collaborating with government enforcement agencies and assessing cases for potential affirmative litigation. She handled cases covering a range of issues, including False Claims Act and Anti-Kickback Statute. Lariss also managed defensive litigation matters, including navigating company information sources, collaborating with business partners, assessing risk and exposure, developing litigation strategy, negotiating with opposing parties, and working with outside counsel.
Experience
Member of trial team representing defendant real estate developers in two-week trial in bankruptcy court addressing claims for breach of fiduciary duty, piercing the corporate veil and fraudulent transfer.
Represent bank in litigation related to the sale of a portfolio of student loans.
Manage investigation for manufacturer related to export control issues.
Defend payment processor against potential claims by government regulators.
Served a hotel investment group's Special Litigation Committee in investigating shareholder derivative claims and evaluating the appropriate resolution, resulting in a global settlement of claims.
Represented major agricultural business in nuisance cases related to hog farming operations.
Represented food manufacturers in resolving foodborne illness cases arising from major outbreaks and recalls.
Represented pharmaceutical manufacturers in defense of product liability claims.
Successfully argued motion to dismiss charges against a telecommunications company for breach of contract and employment law claims.
Represented ice cream manufacturer in several personal injury cases based on listeria outbreak.
Represented clients in a number of class action lawsuits in California District Court for consumer fraud claims, including related to vitamin and protein supplement products.
Served as local counsel for medical device manufacturer managing cases served in Minnesota as part of a Multi District Litigation based in the Southern District of West Virginia. Conducted depositions of local witnesses, including plaintiffs and physicians.
