Katie’s experience both in and out of the courtroom helps her develop legal strategies to achieve her clients' business objectives.
Experienced in representing clients in state and federal court, Katie has worked on a wide range of business and commercial litigation issues. She brings a well-rounded perspective to her litigation practice, having assisted on a myriad of matters, including complex contract disputes, insurance coverage disputes, class action defense, business torts and unfair competition, aviation defense, employment discrimination defense and product liability defense.
Katie works collaboratively with others at Stinson at all stages on cases large and small, including fact investigation, initial pleadings, discovery, motions practice, settlement negotiations, alternative dispute resolution (both mediation and arbitration), trial preparation, pre-trial and post-trial briefing, and post-judgment proceedings. She is often called upon to lead large-scale document collection and review projects, performing tasks such as custodian interviews and assessment of electronically-stored information (ESI).
Katie was the lead associate on a multi-million dollar complex commercial arbitration for one of the country’s largest packaged food companies.
Katie was the lead associate on several product liability actions involving one of the country’s largest suppliers of LP gas (propane).
Katie is the lead associate in ongoing insurance coverage dispute litigation, where she is working to help her clients obtain coverage and compensation from their insurance companies for costs incurred in underlying litigation.
She also has represented a number of clients in interpleader actions, designed to allow courts to determine the true recipient of funds at issue while insulating her clients from liability related to paying the funds.
She recently represented a client seeking relief under the Lanham Act and Missouri common law based on the defendants' unauthorized use of client's product in infomercial.
She also recently assisted in obtaining a favorable settlement for one of her clients, a third-party entangled in contentious post-judgment garnishment proceedings.
Katie has served as lead associate on class action lawsuits involving the constitutionality of pre-paid debit card programs.
Katie also served as a key member of a litigation team defending a large utility provide against complex breach of contract claims.
