Karen navigates the complexities of regulatory compliance and corporate law to work hand-in-hand with her clients to design and implement financial products and services for banking and other financial services entities.
Karen achieves the strategic objectives of financial companies in the ever-changing legal and regulatory environment for financial products and services. Her focus on the regulatory and legal issues facing financial institutions and related businesses includes risk management, operational matters, product development and compliance.
Karen facilitates her clients' efforts to bring products to market, negotiates service provider contracts, and delivers on complex mergers and acquisitions. Versed in the labyrinth of consumer financial services regulatory matters, she provides a full range of key services to her financial clients by blending vast regulatory and compliance knowledge with the resources of the firm's cross-disciplinary FinTech Team and CFPB Response Team as well as the Banking and Financial Services division, which she co-chairs.
Focused on product development, Karen resolves legal and compliance issues for new products and services, ranging from internet-based and cash management to credit, debit and virtual payment, consumer credit and stored value products.
Karen leverages her knowledge of payment systems and consumer regulatory matters to advise on ACH and wire transactions, prepaid, debit and credit cards, and emerging payments.
From consumer financial services regulatory issues to financial companies involved with state and federal regulators, Karen works with clients to resolve state licensing matters and compliance with other state and federal laws.
Attuned to the challenges of web platform vulnerability and other consumer protection, privacy and data security laws, Karen frequently advises on third-party risk management for financial institutions and service providers.
Engaged in the challenges and opportunities of FinTech to improve and automate the delivery and use of financial services, Karen frequently speaks and writes on technology issues impacting banking and financial companies and the evolving regulatory and enforcement landscape.
