Jeffrey solves legal challenges for his clients in the areas of intellectual property and technology.
Overview
Jeffrey regularly conducts mergers and acquisitions IP due diligence efforts including open source compliance and remediation, software architecture and security work streams. He has significant experience when it comes to open source software, including the evaluation of compliance, licensing, patent and corporate strategy-related issues.
Jeffrey also assists clients with their privacy and data security needs, including compliance with U.S. and international laws such as the California Consumer Privacy Protection Act (CCPA), the FTC Act, CAN-SPAM, the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act, and EU’s General Data Protection Regulation. Jeff has attained the International Association of Privacy Professionals certification for Certified Information Privacy Professional in US law (CIPP/US).
Experience
Jeffrey has assisted a multinational software company with various divestitures and acquisitions, including due diligence efforts involving third party and open source software assessments. Deal experience has included the acquisition of a major social media company, AI/machine learning platforms, and gaming platforms.
Jeffrey has assisted a multinational company in revising its privacy and data security policies, including the drafting of a privacy policy for the company and its subsidiaries.
Additional experience has included work for pro bono clients, such as the drafting of a website's privacy policy, terms of use and conditions of sale documents, submissions policy and submissions agreements, guidance regarding the DMCA, and providing counsel regarding fair use issues in the appropriation of art field.
During law school, Jeffrey served as a student attorney at an intellectual property clinic, as a legal extern at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office, and as a legal extern at the Department of Commerce's Office of Intellectual Property Rights.
Prior to practicing law, Jeffrey worked as a sound engineer. He earned an Emmy nomination for sound editing and several Motion Picture Sound Editors Society awards for Best Sound in Animation. He leverages these technical skills and industry knowledge to serve clients.
