Ethan assists clients with commercial business litigation and construction law matters, concentrating on complex matters in both state and federal courts, arbitrations and mediations.
Overview
Clients look to Ethan for his analytical and drafting skills associated with construction transactions, as well as his attention to detail and approachable communication style. Ethan represents construction professionals, including owners, developers, general contractors and suppliers. He advises clients on drafting and modifying contracts and insurance requirements to achieve consistent and efficient results on their construction projects. Ethan also has experience providing initial case assessment, preparing pleadings, managing and investigating discovery.
Ethan is engaged in the developing practices of esports and sports betting, both by monitoring, speaking and writing on current trends, and by communicating with clients regarding these rapidly changing areas of law. Fluent in Spanish, Ethan has also worked on various immigration matters with Spanish speaking clients.
During law school, Ethan worked as a judicial intern for the Honorable Teresa Chafin of the Court of Appeals of Virginia and won the 2018 John L. Costello National Trial Advocacy Competition.
Experience
Negotiates and drafts contracts, including American Institute of Architects (AIA) forms, for commercial owners, general contractors, subcontractors, suppliers and architects on both public and private projects. Ethan also has experience preparing pleadings and conducting discovery associated with litigation and arbitration matters, as well as participating in associated mediations.
Represented construction contractor in various disputes in Missouri and Kansas, including first-chairing depositions, mediations, and hearings, and engaging and working with expert witnesses.
Represented general contractor in construction contract arbitration associated with the construction of an extensive wind farm project.
Supported fact investigation, discovery, and trial preparation in an employment matter that resulted in voluntary dismissal of case by plaintiff.
Successfully represented client in pro bono construction matter against contractor, securing settlement at mediation after extensive discovery and expert witness engagement.
