As an economic development advisor for businesses small and large, Erick draws from his wealth of experience to advocate for commercial enterprises, even in the most contentious litigation matters.

Overview

Involved with a number of multimillion dollar commercial disputes and litigation, Erick is a trusted guide in complex matters for a wide array of clients. Erick has business litigation experience with federal government investigations, complex commercial contract disputes, commercial lease and real estate matters, state and federal government investigations, immigration certification, trust and will banking disputes, and settlement negotiations, most involving several million dollars at stake. Additionally, Erick is a member of Stinson's Sports & Recreation group and possesses a strong understanding of esports and skill-based gaming. As a frequent conference attendee, Erick gathers timely industry developments to author content to help clients build esports programs to comply with its ever-changing laws.

In addition to being a 2022 LCLD Pathfinder, Erick was President of the Hispanic Bar Association in 2022 and is a member of the Iowa Law Alumni DEI Council. Erick stands out in his field as one of the few Latino attorneys at large law firms who excel in litigation and advocacy for the Latinx community. Erick also takes pride in dedicating time to pro bono matters, assisting on Jackson County public defense cases, prisoner appeals to the United States Supreme Court, and cases involving economically disadvantaged individuals with limited English proficiency.

Represent franchise owners facing multimillion dollar claims against them, to settled for fractions of potential cost.

Represent commercial enterprises in lease negotiations and real estate disputes, from including favorable terms to settling multimillion dollar transactions of property in lieu of litigation.

Represented large banking institutions involving commercial business disputes and multimillion dollar trust and will disputes in multi-party litigation matters.

Advocate for esport industries, particularly for collegiate level teams and skill based gaming machines in legislatures across the United States.

Argued multiple disputes in both federal and state courts that ended favorably in his clients' favor.
