Dan brings 25 years of high-stakes trial and appellate courtroom experience to bear in protecting the products, practices and competitive interests of some of America's most admired brands.
Dan has tried and argued cases in state and federal courts throughout the Midwest, and represents industry leaders in financial services, global manufacturing, renewable energy, media and technology, healthcare, biotechnology, retail, defense, construction and transportation sectors. He concentrates his practice on complex business disputes in a variety of settings, including both prosecuting and defending lawsuits seeking emergency injunctive relief; non-compete and restrictive covenant enforcement; shareholder and ownership disputes; employment and civil rights claims; contract disputes; IP and trade secret claims; mass tort and toxic tort actions; class actions; insurance coverage claims; worksite injuries and deaths; eminent domain litigation; and corporate and government investigations.
As a trusted advisor, Dan guides business leaders, elected officials and individuals facing significant change, challenges and opportunities. He reduces his client's risk exposure, often leading to early, practical and cost-effective resolutions. He has led business development, talent recruitment and development, pro bono and mentoring initiatives throughout his career, and sponsored leadership opportunities for both communities of color and women in business.
As a servant leader, Dan is routinely engaged by civic organizations for thought leadership and counsel. Currently, he serves as a director and officer on the Board of Trustees at the College of Saint Benedict and the Board of Directors for the NHL Minnesota Wild Foundation. He has also served as a board member and investor in a privately-held company advancing the distributed production of green jet and diesel fuel, and spent two decades as a Saint Paul civic leader in various organizations such as the Saint Paul Area Chamber of Commerce, Saint Paul Historic Preservation Commission and City Hall.
