Calvin’s in-house experience managing litigation for a national mortgage servicer provides him with a practical perspective when counseling financial services clients.


Calvin focuses his practice on financial services litigation and real estate litigation. He helps his banking and financial services clients resolve a wide range of issues, including individual and class action claims under the Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA), the Truth in Lending Act (TILA), the Real Estate Settlement Procedures Act (RESPA), the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act (FDCPA), and the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA). He has extensive experience in the mortgage servicing industry from his representation of national mortgage servicers in lawsuits brought by borrowers in both state and federal courts.

He also represents commercial lenders and landlords with their litigation needs, including leasing disputes, evictions, rent collection actions, HUD fair housing complaints and compliance, commercial and multifamily property foreclosures, and receivership actions.  


Calvin has obtained summary judgment against borrowers in numerous actions challenging the validity of a foreclosure and seeking relief under TILA, RESPA, the FCRA, and the FDCPA.

He obtained the appointment of a limited receiver following commencement of foreclosure by action involving a commercial property.

He obtained dismissal of putative class action alleging violation of TCPA.

Calvin obtained reversal of an order finding that a mortgage servicer violated RESPA.

As in-house attorney at a national mortgage servicer, Calvin managed defensive litigation in 13 states, giving him an inside perspective of how his clients run their businesses.

Calvin assists his banking and financial services clients in state and federal court litigation involving both consumer and commercial loans and properties. He has numerous appellate court wins and published decisions, including those reversing unfavorable lower court decisions.
