The firm's pro bono activities in the Washington, DC office were the subject of a recent story in the Washington Lawyer, the official magazine of the DC Bar Association.

In a city with a lot of lawyers and a lot of large law firms, the firm's commitment to pro bono stands out. Each of the firm's 25 Washington, DC attorneys commit to accepting 10 pro bono cases a year through the D.C. Bar Pro Bono Center's Advocacy & Justice Clinic.

"Stinson's participation in the Clinic is exemplary," says Pro Bono Center Managing Attorney Vanessa Batters-Thompson. "Although their Washington office is relatively small, their impact on the client community is huge."

The article is in the March 2016 issue of the magazine and it highlights the work the firm has done instilling a culture of commitment to pro bono work. To motivate attorneys, the firm assigns two attorneys to each case and matches people up with cases that motivate them. The firm primarily handles family and child custody, housing and disability appeals cases.

"Many people live every day with the same problems that go unresolved . . . and helping them get that problem resolved can be so meaningful to them," said Washington, DC partner Darrell Clark.
