Vaughan Butts Named Chief Information and Risk Officer
Stinson LLP is pleased to announce that Vaughan Butts has been named chief information and risk officer effective May 2. Butts will be responsible for leading growth and development in the firm's information services department while continuing to lead the risk department.
Prior to the announcement, Butts had served as Stinson's chief risk officer since 2014, and was responsible for the risk management department created when Stinson Morrison Hecker merged with Leonard, Street and Deinard. He has since served as an integral part of the firm's leadership team, interacting and collaborating with the leadership team, practice divisions and the board of directors. Butts was also responsible for the firm's risk assurance program, a comprehensive risk management strategy which aligns with Stinson's firmwide strategic plan.
Before joining Stinson, Butts was the chief information officer at Sterne, Kessler, Goldstein & Fox in Washington, DC, where he oversaw its IS department for 13 years. He earned his M.S. and M.B.A. from the University of Maryland University College.
