Stinson Leonard Street Receives Inaugural Artskc Fund Corporate Leadership Award

Press Release

Stinson Leonard Street LLP received the inaugural ArtsKC Fund Corporate Leadership Award at the 11th Annual ArtsKC Awards Luncheon held on Friday, Jan. 24, at Starlight Theater in Kansas City, Mo. This is the fifth consecutive year in which the ArtsKC – Regional Arts Council has recognized the law firm for its leadership in the annual ArtsKC workplace giving campaign.

Stinson Morrison Hecker earned the award based on participation in the 2013 ArtsKC campaign. The firm has since merged with Leonard, Street and Deinard, a Minneapolis, Minn.-based law firm. As of Jan. 1, 2014, the combined firm is known as Stinson Leonard Street LLP.

"It's very gratifying to know so many of our attorneys and staff support the many deserving programs that ArtsKC supports," said Brian Williams, an attorney at Stinson Leonard Street and co-chair of the firm's 2013 ArtsKC campaign. "The firm's attorneys and staff have contributed more than $175,000 to the ArtsKC Fund over the past seven years."

Williams has been the firm's ArtsKC workplace giving campaign manager since 2007. Misty Cooper Watt, an associate at Stinson Leonard Street, and Linda Haney, Stinson Leonard Street benefits manager, were co-chairs of the firm's 2013 drive, along with Williams.

"We're very pleased to receive the award and it demonstrates our firm's broad commitment to the arts communities in the area" said Watt.

ArtsKC advances and supports the arts for the benefit of the Kansas City region. The awards luncheon was held at Starlight Theatre’s enclosed stage and featured performances by several local artists. Sharron Hunt was the 2014 ArtsKC Awards event chairperson.

Other award recipients included Mayor Sly James, City of Kansas City, Mo. (Arts Advocate Award), Grant Burcham, Missouri Bank (Corporate Leader in the Arts Award), Rees Masilionis Turley Architecture (ArtsKC Fund Employee Commitment Award), Hotel Phillips (Impact Award), Red Dirt, LLC (Creative Industry Award), and Jay Tomlinson, Helix Architecture + Design, Inc. (Virtuoso Award).

"We are certainly proud to be a strong supporter of the ArtsKC program," said Mark Hinderks, co-managing partner, Stinson Leonard Street. "Brian, Misty and Linda deserve a lot of credit for their leadership and commitment, but I'm also very proud of the firm's attorneys and staff."
