Stinson Leonard Street Adds Johnny Wang to Employment Practice in St. Louis
(ST. LOUIS) March 7, 2014 – Stinson Leonard Street LLP announced that Johnny Wang has joined the firm's Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Division as a partner in the firm's St. Louis office. His addition broadens the employment counseling and litigation services the firm can offer clients represented out of the firm's St. Louis office.
Wang represents companies, nonprofit organizations, and public entities across all employment areas. He advises employers on day-to-day workplace matters, helping clients avoid employment controversies. He represents companies facing employee-related disputes, drawing from his litigation experience, to help clients manage legal entanglements. He has first chair jury and bench trial experience, and has handled appellate matters before the Missouri Supreme Court and the Missouri Court of Appeals. Wang also represents providers and employers in employee benefits matters, including ERISA litigation and union issues.
"We're excited about Johnny joining us because, like others in our firm's employment practice, he has demonstrated he can help clients with almost any type of employment issue," said Stephanie Scheck, co-chair of Stinson Leonard Street's Labor, Employment and Benefits Division. "Johnny places an emphasis on establishing strong relationships with clients by being not just a good attorney, but also a trusted confidante."
Wang is the first partner to join the firm's St. Louis office since Jan. 1, 2014, when Stinson Morrison Hecker and Leonard, Street and Deinard completed their merger, creating Stinson Leonard Street LLP. The combined firm has offices in 14 cities and more than 520 attorneys, which places it among the 75 largest law firms in the U.S.
"Johnny's balance of employment-related counseling and litigation experience will be of great value to our clients," said John Moticka, co-managing partner of Stinson Leonard Street's St. Louis office. "Clients we represent out of the St. Louis office and across the firm include employers of all sizes, from larger, publicly held companies to smaller, private businesses. Johnny has worked with all types of clients from different industries. We look forward to working with him, as will our clients."
Stinson Leonard Street represents employers in virtually all areas of labor, employment and employee benefits law. The firm's Labor, Employment and Employee Benefits Law practice consists of more than 50 attorneys who have experience advising companies on labor, employment and employee benefits matters or representing clients in employment-related disputes before federal and state courts, and before administrative agencies.
"The diversity of clients represented out of the St. Louis office and across the firm is one of the factors that attracted me to Stinson Leonard Street," said Wang. "I also came to know several of the firm's attorneys over the years and they are excellent practitioners who understand the importance of delivering responsive, reliable legal advice to clients, and doing so efficiently."
Wang presents frequently on employment law and workplace-related subjects, including diversity and inclusion efforts. He is involved in diversity programming locally and nationally. He also helps employers build productive, sustainable diversity and inclusion programs.
Wang is founder and chair of the Missouri Minority Counsel Program. He is president of the Asian-American Chamber of Commerce of St. Louis, which he co-founded in 2012. He also served as president of the Missouri Asian-American Bar Association in 2012.
