Stinson Leonard Street Represents Medical Modeling in 3D Systems Transaction

Stinson Leonard Street represented Medical Modeling Inc. in its transaction with 3D Systems (NYSE: DDD) in which 3D Systems acquired 100% of Medical Modeling's shares. Medical Modeling is a provider of personalized surgical treatments and patient specific medical devices, including virtual surgical planning and clinical transfer tools, using 3D modeling and printing.

The transaction creates the largest 3D printing personalized surgery and medical device service and product capability, according to the announcement issued by the companies on April 2, 2014. Financial terms of the transaction are confidential and were not disclosed.

3D Systems plans to consolidate all of its healthcare activities into a single unit under the leadership of former Medical Modeling President, Andy Christensen, who will become Vice President, Personalized Surgery and Medical Devices of 3D Systems.

The announcement issued by the companies included a link to a video of Avi Reichental and Andy Christensen discussing personalized surgery and patient specific medical devices and the acquisition.

Medical Modeling delivers Virtual Surgical Planning (VSP®), a service-based approach to personalized surgery that combines expertise in medical imaging, surgical simulation and additive manufacturing. This allows surgeons access to the most up-to-date toolbox for today's most challenging head and neck surgical procedures.
