Stinson Leonard Street LLP is proud to be recognized once again for its commitment to LGBT workplace equality by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index. The firm was highly ranked in the annual benchmarking survey on corporate policies and practices relating to lesbian, gay, bisexual, and transgender workplace equality.

The 2016 index rated a total of 1,027 businesses in the report, which evaluates LGBT-related policies and practices including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs, and public engagement with the LGBT community.

Stinson Leonard Street's LGBT equality score was compiled by reviewing the firm's policies, benefits and practices, including:

  • Sexual orientation and gender identity non-discrimination protections in all of the firm's operations.
  • An equal employment opportunity policy that includes sexual orientation and gender identify expression for all operations.
  • Competency training, resources or accountability measures available for all employees.

In addition, for many years the firm has hosted a CLE seminar for lawyers and judges across Kansas and Missouri on LGBT legal issues and is a proud sponsor of Kansas City Lesbian Gay and Allied Lawyers. This year, the firm also hosted a CLE program co-sponsored by the Minnesota State Bar Association and Minnesota Lavender Bar Association in the Minneapolis office. The firm also offers a comprehensive benefits package to all domestic partners of its employees.

"A welcoming workplace is the best path to serving the needs of our clients and recruiting and retaining the most talented people. We are honored to once again be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign in the Corporate Equality Index," said Pat Konopka, the co-chair of the firm's diversity committee. "Our commitment to LGBT workplace equality is a central part of our diversity and inclusion strategic action plan and something that our all attorneys and staff take great pride in."
