Stinson Leonard Street Lands Among Leaders in 2013 SNL Rankings

Press ReleaseBanking Practice Ranked #6 in Whole Bank Deals; #11 in Branch Deals

Stinson Leonard Street LLP landed among the top legal advisors in the 2013 rankings issued by SNL Financial. The firm ranked sixth in whole bank deals and eleventh in bank branch deals, based on transactions involving attorneys in the firm's Banking and Financial Services Division.

"We continued to see significant deal activity among banks last year, largely as a result of banks striving to grow, regulatory scrutiny and economic factors," said Bob Monroe, who chairs the firm's Banking and Financial Services Division. "We're pleased with our 2013 ranking, but looking ahead, we could rank higher in 2014 now that we've expanded our practice through the recent merger."

On Jan. 1, 2014, Stinson Morrison Hecker and Leonard, Street and Deinard completed their merger, creating Stinson Leonard Street LLP. The combined firm has offices in 14 cities and more than 520 attorneys, which puts Stinson Leonard Street among the 75 largest law firms in the U.S.

The combination of practices from the two predecessor firms creates a national banking team with more than 75 attorneys, all of whom have experience advising banks and financial institutions throughout the Midwest, Southwest and Rocky Mountain regions, and also markets in proximity to the firm's Washington, D.C. office.

The firm's Banking and Financial Service Division has also ranked at or near the top in recent years. In 2012, the firm advised on more bank and thrift mergers and acquisitions, and branch sales, than any other U.S. legal advisor, according to SNL Financial data.

The Banking and Financial Service Division handles mergers and acquisitions, regulatory matters, commercial lending and creditors’ rights for community and regional banks, and large national banks. The firm also represents clients acquiring the assets and deposits of failed banks.
