Stinson Leonard Street Earns Sixth Consecutive Gold Certification from Women in Law Empowerment Forum
Stinson Leonard Street LLP is proud to announce that it has once again been awarded Gold Standard Certification by the Women in Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF). This is the sixth year in a row the firm has received this important distinction.
WILEF bestows the Gold Standard Certification on law firms that demonstrate that women attorneys have the same opportunities, in promotions and pay, as their male colleagues. Stinson Leonard Street is one of only 31 firms to earn the Gold Standard Certification this year. Firms with at least 300 lawyers in the U.S. were eligible for certification. Those firms had to meet four of the following six criteria in which women comprise at least:
- 20 percent of equity partners or one-third of the nonlateral attorneys elevated to equity partner in last 12 months.
- 15 percent of firm chairs and managing partners.
- 20 percent of the firm’s primary governance committee.
- 20 percent of the firm’s compensation committee.
- 25 percent of the firm’s practice group leaders or department heads.
- 15 percent of the top half of the firm's most highly compensated partners.
WILEF made the criteria for Gold Standard Certification tougher this year by raising the threshold to satisfy the second and sixth criteria and by defining an equity partner as a lawyer that receives no more than half of his or her income on a fixed basis. In 2015, 44 firms received Gold Standard Certification.
“One of the principles of our firm is encouraging the career development and rewarding the contributions of all of our attorneys,” said Allison Murdock, Stinson Leonard Street’s deputy managing partner. “Our firm values the contributions of women at the highest levels. We are very proud to be recognized once again as a leader in this important effort and for the work we have done to make our firm a diverse and inclusive place to practice law.”
Founded in 2007, WILEF is a national organization dedicated to providing educational and networking opportunities for women attorneys from the nation's largest corporations and law firms. To learn more about Women in Law Empowerment Forum, go to www.wilef.com.
