Stinson Leonard Street Earns Perfect Score in 2018 Corporate Equality Index
Stinson Leonard Street LLP is proud to be recognized for its commitment to LGBTQ workplace equality with a perfect score on the 2018 Human Rights Campaign Foundation's Corporate Equality Index (CEI). As a result of earning 100 out of 100 possible points the firm received the "Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality" designation.
The Corporate Equality Index evaluates corporate LGBTQ-related policies, including non-discrimination workplace protections, domestic partner benefits, transgender-inclusive health care benefits, competency programs and public engagement with the LGBTQ community. This year 945 employers participated in the CEI.
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation compiles the index by reviewing the firm's policies, benefits and practices, including:
- Sexual orientation and gender identity non-discrimination protections in all of the firm's operations.
- An equal employment opportunity policy that includes sexual orientation and gender identity expression for all operations.
- Equivalent spousal and partner medical benefits.
- Competency training, resources or accountability measures available for all employees.
The firm enacted several new initiatives this year, with more planned for 2018, aimed at making LGBTQ attorneys and staff feel welcome and engaged allowing them to achieve professional success.
"We are thrilled that Stinson has earned a perfect score on the 2018 Corporate Equality Index and the designation as a "Best Place to Work for LGBTQ Equality." We commend the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for its continued focus on this important issue," said Mark Hinderks, the firm's managing partner. "We are a firm built on mutual respect, trust and fair treatment. We are a business where everyone can succeed. This recognition reinforces that our commitment to diversity is working. We firmly believe that a more diverse and welcoming law firm is a better law firm for our employees, attorneys and most especially our clients. But we want to do more than just embrace and encourage diversity. We want to be a true leader in law firm inclusiveness for the LGBTQ community.”
