Stinson Leonard Street Adds Bernadette Sargeant to Employment Practice in Washington, DC
Stinson Leonard Street is proud to announce that Bernadette Sargeant has joined the firm as a partner in the Employment and Labor Law practice group. She practices in the firm's Washington, DC office.
Sargeant counsels and represents private individuals and businesses in the full range of employment law matters, Congressional ethics compliance, criminal and administrative matters and internal investigations. Throughout her career she has successfully litigated claims of discrimination, sexual harassment, and retaliation as well as class action discrimination claims involving both governmental and private sector entities. Clients have trusted her to conduct dozens of internal investigations involving alleged violations of employment law and internal codes of conduct and to provide advice to individuals and businesses subject to government investigations.
She helps clients resolve all manner of employment-related litigation. She has also represented clients in non-employment related litigation including defense against and prosecution of contract and tort claims. She also advises clients who are called on to testify as government witnesses and frequently conducts internal EEO trainings and Code of Conduct investigations for businesses in a variety of industries.
Sargeant joined Stinson Leonard Street from a successful private practice. Prior to that role, she served as an Assistant United States Attorney, gaining significant jury trial and appellate experience representing the government as a prosecutor and in civil litigation. She also worked for the Department of Justice's Office of Professional Responsibility and as counsel to the Ethics Committee of the U.S. House of Representatives. She has also served as an attorney with the Enforcement Division of the Office of Market Oversight and Investigations of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission and at Hogan Lovells.

Sargeant joins a labor, employment and employee benefits law practice that consists of more than 50 attorneys who have experience advising companies on a wide variety of workplace matters and representing clients in employment-related disputes before federal and state courts and before administrative agencies. The attorneys help clients develop practical and effective employment policies, manage sensitive workplace investigations and counsel clients during all manner of personnel matters.
