Stinson Partners Assume Leadership Roles in the Energy Bar Association
Jonathan Schneider is elected president of the Energy Bar Association, and Harvey Reiter is named editor-in-chief of the Energy Law Journal
Stinson LLP is proud to announce that Partner Jonathan Schneider has been elected president of the Energy Bar Association (EBA). The election took place at EBA’s Annual Meeting & Conference held earlier this month in Washington, DC.
“I have long looked to the EBA as an extended professional family, providing a shared backdrop for our practices, educational and networking opportunities, and our ability to serve common charitable and professional causes," said Schneider. "With roughly 2,000 members, the energy bar functions a little like a small town, and the experiences we share through membership make us all better lawyers and colleagues.”
Schneider has prioritized several key initiatives for the coming year. Building on the EBA's educational focus, he plans to improve access to the content that EBA provides members through its many meetings, energizers and publications. He also wants to provide new opportunities for members to publish position pieces and exchange views on issues of the day.
Recognizing that effective working relationships between private attorneys and public servants are critical to the energy industry, Schneider added: "We’ll also use the coming year to strengthen these relationships through joint programming and a concerted effort to engage our government members in EBA activities."
Schneider is widely recognized for his strategic policy advocacy and extensive experience as an administrative litigator and appellate advocate. He brings more than 30 years' experience to his private practice, providing strategic counseling to achieve complex energy regulatory objectives and combining mastery of regulatory law and policy with extensive experience as an administrative litigator and appellate advocate.
In addition to electing Schneider as president, the EBA named Harvey Reiter editor-in-chief of the Energy Law Journal. Published twice a year, the Journal is the nation's preeminent energy law journal, providing thought-provoking and deeply researched articles by practitioners, internationally known academics, federal judges, high ranking government officials and members of the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC). Journal subscribers total more than 3,000 and span the globe.
Reiter brings a wealth of knowledge to his private practice in litigation, appellate, transactional and other legal services. His experience includes more than 20 oral arguments before various federal circuit courts of appeal, work in government supervising FERC trial lawyers and representation of natural gas distributors, governmental agencies, the World Bank, electric utilities, cogenerators, gas and power marketers, and internet service providers in regulatory proceedings. In addition to his representation of clients on energy-related matters, Reiter is an adjunct professor of law at George Washington University Law School, where he teaches Regulated Industries.
