Stinson One of Only 17 Firms Honored with Two Awards From the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity

Press Release
10.21.2019

Both awards build on Stinson's longstanding commitment to diversity and inclusion.

Stinson LLP is proud to announce that the firm has been recognized for the second year in a row by the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD) as a 2019 Top Performer and as a 2019 Compass Award winner.

These recognitions represent the firm's continued commitment to and involvement in LCLD's programming and mission-driven work. Honorees were announced at the Tenth Annual LCLD Membership Meeting earlier this month. Stinson is one of only 17 firms to receive both recognitions this year, and one of only eight to receive both two years in a row.

The Top Performer Award is given to the organizations that are most active with LCLD throughout the year. The Compass Award is given based on involvement in certain programs facilitated by LCLD, including the Fellows, Pathfinder and Pipeline programs.

Stinson attorneys have long participated in the LCLD Fellows Program and the 1L LCLD Scholars Program, and recently began participating in the Pathfinders Program. Stinson's managing partners also attends the LCLD Annual Meeting each year.

"These awards serve as a positive reinforcement of our firmwide commitment to making Stinson a welcoming environment for all," Managing Partner Mark Hinderks said. "Diversity and inclusion is one of Stinson's core values, and we are working hard to create a workplace where everyone can thrive."

This recognition builds on Stinson's strategic diversity and inclusion initiatives, which are led by Ann Jenrette-Thomas, the firm's chief diversity and inclusion officer, and the Diversity Committee, chaired by firm partners Pat Konopka and Shane Swanson

"Stinson's diversity work is far-reaching and measurably impactful," Jenrette-Thomas said. "We push ourselves to be a leader among our peers in terms of diversity and inclusion. Recognitions like this let us know that we are moving the needle in the right direction."

The firm's diversity work has most recently included participation in the Mansfield Rule 3.0 certification process. Additionally, Stinson was recognized by the Women In Law Empowerment Forum (WILEF) as a 2019 WILEF Gold Standard Firm. Stinson was also named as one of the best law firms for female partners in Law360's annual Glass Ceiling report, recognized by the Women's Foundation of Greater St. Louis' Women in the Workplace as a top-scoring employer on their 2018 Employment Scorecard, and received top marks in the Human Rights Campaign's 2019 Corporate Equality Index. Stinson was also recently recognized by Working Mother on their 2019 Best Law Firms for Women list.
