Stinson Diversity Tactics Featured by Thomson Reuters
Stinson LLP's diversity and inclusion initiatives were recently featured as a case study by Thomson Reuters. Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer Ann Jenrette-Thomas shared the firm's strategic work, including setting clear outcome targets, creating and improving scholarship strategies for law students of color, and focusing on firmwide inclusion efforts.
These changes, led by Ann and the firm's Diversity and Inclusion Committee, have increased the representation of lawyers of color at Stinson from five percent to nine percent, with a 13 percent increase in retention in just over two years.
In the article, Ann highlighted the importance of support from firm leadership, using experiential learning tactics to engage attorneys emotionally and coaching for partners and associates on how to effectively give and receive meaningful feedback.
Ann also discussed building on success with more retention strategies and developing a pilot program to monitor work assignments to ensure that all attorneys have an equal opportunity to fine tune their legal skills.
