Shawn L. Adams Named New Chief Operating Officer
Stinson Leonard Street LLP is pleased to announce that Shawn L. Adams has been named the firm's new chief operating officer. Adams replaces Terry Brummer, who is retiring, after 18 years with the firm.
Adams comes to Stinson Leonard Street after serving as the chief strategy officer at Gardere Wynne Sewell LLP, an AmLaw 200 firm with three offices in Texas as well as offices in Denver and Mexico City. He was responsible for operations and implementing the firm's strategic growth initiatives. Prior to that role, Adams was the chief administrative officer for Locke Lord LLP, an AmLaw 100 international law firm, where he managed operations and the integration of acquisitions.
As COO for Stinson Leonard Street, Adams will be responsible for managing operations for a firm with nearly 1,000 attorneys and professional staff in 14 U.S. offices. He will also be involved in developing long-range plans while working closely with the firm's board of directors.
"Stinson Leonard Street is known for its unsurpassed commitment to client service and a proven track record of providing exemplary legal service at a great value," Adams said. “I am honored to be working with such a talented group of attorneys and staff to continue to build on the firm's success."
Mark Hinderks, managing partner at Stinson Leonard Street, said that the firm engaged a top consultant to perform a national search for the new COO. From an excellent field of experienced candidates, and interviews with the leadership team, board members and staff leaders, Adams emerged as the obvious top choice for the role.
"The COO position is a vital role: our retiring COO, Terry Brummer, built and empowered an effective professional infrastructure to bring comprehensive client-focused business principles to our law firm, driving success and growth. Shawn is the ideal choice to carry forward a next generation of strategy and support for evolving models of client service," Hinderks said.
Not only will Shawn be a great fit with our firm's culture, he has a proven track record of leadership and strategic planning at large, multi-office firms like ours. We are very happy that he accepted our offer with the same enthusiasm it was made."
Adams is from Dallas and is married with three daughters who are all avid volleyball players. He will be based in the firm's Kansas City, Mo., office. Adams received his undergraduate degree from LeTourneau University and earned his MBA from the University of Texas at Dallas—School of Management.
