Scott Smalley Recognized as Up & Coming Attorney by Missouri Lawyers Weekly
Stinson Leonard Street LLP attorney Scott Smalley was selected as an Up & Coming Attorney for 2015 by Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Each year Missouri Lawyers Weekly recognizes a select group of attorneys who demonstrate a level of professional accomplishment, skill and leadership beyond their years and an extraordinary commitment to the community through their volunteer service and leadership. Attorneys 40 or younger, or within the first 10 years of practice, are eligible for the recognition. Fifty-six professionals were selected in the 2015 class.
Smalley is a partner in the firm’s banking and financial services division in the Kansas City office. He focuses his practice on transactional matters involving banks, holding companies and other financial institutions. He has significant experience representing banks in connection with a wide variety of finance transactions and advising community bank clients in connection with mergers and acquisitions and financial regulation compliance. Smalley is the editor of the division’s newsletter, e-Alerts and banking law blog, BankinBits.
In 2009, Smalley was named Leukemia & Lymphoma Society's Man of the Year for his work organizing the organization's annual Man & Woman of the Year fundraiser. In 2014, he served as chairman of the organization's largest fundraiser, the Light the Night Walk, which raised more than $700,000 for the – one of the most successful to date. Smalley currently serves on the board of directors of the Kansas Bankers Association's Young Bank Officers of Kansas.
He received his J.D. from the University of Kansas and his B.S. from Kansas State University.
