KANSAS CITY (April 13, 2015)—Stinson Leonard Street LLP partner Scott Hecht was recently elected a Fellow in the American College of Coverage and Extracontractual Counsel (ACCEC).

ACCEC is a group of lawyers in the U.S. and Canada representing the interests of both insurers and policyholders committed to improving the quality of the practice of insurance law and to increase civility and professionalism. ACCEC is focused on the creative, ethical and efficient adjudication of insurance coverage and extracontractual disputes, peer-provided scholarship, professional coordination and the improvement of the relationship between members. Only attorneys with the highest credentials who have practiced insurance law for at least fifteen consecutive years are eligible to be nominated by other ACCEC Fellows and elected as Fellow by the organization's Board of Regents.

Hecht leads Stinson Leonard Street LLP Insurance practice group from the firm's Kansas City office. "Scott's nomination and election to the ACCEC were supported by more than 15 years' experience in not only litigating high-stakes insurance matters, but also resolving dozens of disputed matters favorably for clients without resort to litigation and consulting with clients and other lawyers concerning insurance issues and insurance aspects of business transactions," said firm partner Paul Donnelly." It is a singular honor for Scott and for the firm." Stinson Leonard Street insurance litigation partner Bob Thavis also is an ACCEC Fellow, and the firm's insurance litigation group is one of a select few in the region boasting members in the organization.
