Samir Mehta Elected Treasurer of the South Asian Bar Association of North America
Stinson Leonard Street LLP attorney Samir Mehta was recently elected Treasurer of the South Asian Bar Association of North America (SABA). Mehta's term on the SABA Executive Committee runs through July 2018. He previously served as a President and founding member of the Metropolitan St. Louis chapter of the South Asian Bar Association. He remains on the board of that organization.
SABA North America provides South Asian lawyers across the continent with a recognized forum for professional growth and advancement. SABA North America is the fastest growing organization of South Asian lawyers in the world. SABA also publishes a resource directory of qualified legal professionals for South Asian owned businesses, and supports, guides, mentors, and fosters the local South Asian Bar Associations across the continent.
Mehta practices in the firm's St. Louis office. He helps his clients protect their intellectual property in the U.S. and across the globe. He has worked on complex intellectual property matters pending in state, federal and appellate courts throughout the country. In June of 2017, Mehta was part of a litigation team that obtained a $2.7 million verdict of patent infringement with a jury finding of willful infringement after an eight-day jury trial in the Eastern District of Virginia.
Generally, Mehta prosecutes and defends claims of patent infringement, copyright infringement, trademark infringement and trade secret misappropriation for individuals and private and public companies. In addition to litigation, Mehta has significant experience representing companies in Inter Partes Review proceedings before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
Mehta also has significant experience in the areas of computer software, hardware and high technology. Mehta has previously worked substantially in the preparation and prosecution of patents related to data storage, file systems, databases, machine-learning, data analytics, electronic payment systems, and online advertising.
