Robert Bain Named a Top St. Louis Lawyer for Your Small Business

Press Release
02.07.2017

St. Louis Small Business Monthly has named Robert M. Bain one of the 2017 Top Small Business Lawyers. Nine attorneys were selected for this prestigious honor.

As a partner in a law firm, Mr. Bain is keenly aware of the issues affecting small business owners and the important role such companies play in the regional economy. He offers several pieces of advice to business owners. Most importantly, he advises these individuals to "treat your attorney as a trusted business partner rather than a hired gun. For example, when your attorney has a deeper understanding of your business, he or she can see the big picture and advise you accordingly when dealing with specific issues." He says that one of his biggest challenges is convincing business owners to view patents and other intellectual property as assets, and to consider how these assets, and those of their competition, fit into a client's overall business strategy. He also counsels business owners to meet with an intellectual property attorney early in a product development process, especially before any new product releases, so that they can assess the appropriate protection measures.

Mr. Bain's practice includes preparing and prosecuting U.S. and international patents in electrical, computer, and related fields. Additionally, he counsels clients on freedom-to-operate, infringement, due diligence, licensing, and other intellectual property issues. Mr. Bain currently serves as the Group Leader of Senniger's Electrical, Computer Systems and Software practice.
