Partner Habib Ilahi Quoted on Justice Department's Coronavirus False Claims Response in Bloomberg Law
In an effort to curb health care-related fraud cases surrounding the COVID-19 pandemic, the National Whistleblower Center is calling for the Department of Justice to establish a task force monitor and investigate cases. Partner Habib Ilahi discussed the issues that can occur with telehealth systems, as well as the potential for OSHA violations with Bloomberg Law.
“Often times in telehealth fraud cases, you’ll see providers who don’t meet all of the requirements billing for services, providers who are billing for unnecessary services in telehealth—all these issues can creep up again here when you’re trying to make, in this case for good reasons, telehealth more available,” said Habib.
As a former federal prosecutor for the Department of Justice, Habib counsels business entities and individuals in highly regulated industries through complex health care, procurement, and other government enforcement investigations and litigation, as well as through general white collar criminal and civil defense matters. He has worked extensively on matters involving the False Claims Act, Anti-Kickback Statute and the Stark Law.
