New Markets Tax Credit Attorney Chris Perkowski Joins Stinson Leonard Street in Washington, DC
WASHINGTON, D.C. (Oct. 6, 2016)—Stinson Leonard Street LLP is pleased to announce that Christopher Perkowski has joined the firm as a partner in the firm's Tax Credit Finance practice group. He will practice in the Washington, DC office. Perkowski was previously a partner and co-leader of the new markets tax credit (NMTC) team at Nixon Peabody LLP.
Perkowski has significant experience helping investors, lenders and developers structure and close transactions that qualify for NMTC and other federal, state and local incentives. He represents financial institutions, community development entities and project sponsors who use federal incentives to bring private investment to underserved communities. These transactions bring much-needed employment, services and tax base to communities. Perkowski has worked on a variety of projects, including charter schools, health care clinics, manufacturing facilities, grocery stores and a variety of mixed-use developments. In addition, Perkowski helps clients with unwinding NMTC transactions and assists clients following defaults and in workouts to find and implement solutions, such as loan modifications or reinvestment in alternative projects.
"We are thrilled to have Chris join our tax credit finance team," said David Lutz, the head of the practice group. "He has represented key players at every level in the NMTC industry and shares our commitment to provide creative and practical advice to efficiently close tax credit transactions. He will be a great addition to our group."
