Missouri Lawyers Weekly Names Megan McCurdy, Nicole Zellweger Up & Coming Attorneys
Stinson Leonard Street is proud to recognize partners Nicole Zellweger and Megan McCurdy for being selected 2017 Up & Coming Attorneys by The Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
The award recognizes attorneys 40 or younger, or within the first 10 years of practice, who demonstrate a level of professional accomplishment, skill and leadership beyond their years, and an extraordinary commitment to the community through their volunteer service and leadership.
McCurdy practices in the firm's Kansas City office representing a wide array of businesses in commercial litigation. She concentrates her practice in financial services, contract disputes, business torts, and product liability actions.
She has litigated a variety of complex lawsuits and arbitrations encompassing all aspects of the litigation process. She represents a natural gas and electric utility company in South Dakota in a $100 million property damage dispute. She also recently led the defense of multiple bank clients against multimillion dollar claims alleging breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraud, Missouri Merchandising Practices Act violations and negligence. McCurdy also serves as co-chair of one of the firm’s business litigation practice divisions and has been recognized by Benchmark as a Top Litigator Under 40, by Superlawyers as a Missouri and Kansas Rising Star, and by Missouri Lawyers Weekly as a Women's Justice Award winner.
Zellweger practices in the St. Louis office and counsels franchisors and franchisees in all areas of their legal and business needs, including litigation, arbitration, real estate and employment. She has experience obtaining injunctive relief on behalf of franchisors and defeating injunctive relief sought against franchisees. Recently, she successfully represented a franchisee in a breach of contract action against a franchisor that was affirmed by the United States Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit. She has been named a "Legal Eagle" by Franchise Times since 2012. Zellweger also has extensive experience assisting clients in the area of trust and estate law. She earned her law degree from Washington University.
