Samir was selected for his outstanding professional accomplishments, leadership and community involvement.
Stinson LLP is proud to announce that Partner Samir Mehta has been selected as a 2020 Up & Coming Attorney by Missouri Lawyers Weekly for his professional accomplishments and extraordinary commitment to the community through volunteer service and leadership.
A lifelong technophile with years of experience in the Silicon Valley software industry, Mehta combines industry knowledge with legal experience in his representations of high tech intellectual property clients in litigation. In that role, Mehta prosecutes and defends claims of patent, copyright and trademark infringement and trade secret misappropriation for individuals, private and public companies involving a wide array of technologies. He frequently represents companies in Inter Partes Review before the Patent Trial and Appeal Board of the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office. He also advises and counsels companies on their IP strategies. In that capacity, Mehta places special emphasis on helping companies protect IP in software based on the continually evolving guidance regarding subject-matter eligibility of patents, and helping companies protect and license IP that is used for industry standards and is required to be licensed under reasonable and nondiscriminatory (RAND) terms.
Additionally, Mehta recently began his term as president-elect of the South Asian Bar Association (SABA) of North America, where he guides SABA in its mission of promoting diversity and inclusion efforts nationwide, combating inequalities and civil rights challenges facing South Asian and immigrant communities, providing legal resources and pro bono services to those communities, and providing professional development opportunities for its members and its chapters across the landscape of legal professions.
Mehta is also a 2020 Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity (LCLD). His one-year fellowship provides extensive guidance on the fine points of legal practice through peer-group projects to foster collaboration and build relationships, and extensive contact with LCLD's top leadership and affiliated managing partners and general counsel.
