Lariss Maldonado Appointed Co-Chair of MHBA Judicial Endorsements Committee
MINNEAPOLIS, Min. (June 25, 2019)—Stinson LLP is excited to announce that attorney Lariss Maldonado has been appointed co-chair of the Minnesota Hispanic Bar Association's (MHBA) Judicial Endorsements Committee by the MHBA board of directors.
The Judicial Endorsements Committee is part of the MHBA's mission to promote diversity on the state and federal bench. The committee manages the organization's rigorous endorsement process and supports endorsed candidates by conducting mock interviews and preparing candidates for the vetting process.
As co-chair, Maldonado will oversee the committee and meet regularly with the Minnesota governor's office regarding judicial position openings and candidates.
“Lariss possesses the unique professional experience necessary to advise and support candidates for judicial office," said Judge Jeffrey Bryan, Second Judicial District. "In addition, her superb reputation in the legal community will prove an important asset in her efforts to identify and recruit potential judicial candidates of color, including both current applicants as well as those individuals who aspire to become a judge many years down the road. The MHBA is once again fortunate that Lariss is willing to dedicate her time to promote the values of our organization and improve the legal profession in Minnesota.”
Maldonado handles cases across a range of industries in complex litigation, including product liability, consumer fraud, fiduciary liability, insurance fraud, and commercial disputes. She also specializes in supporting businesses subject to government investigation.
In addition to her legal practice, Maldonado serves as secretary of the board of the ACLU of Minnesota, a member of the Diversity and Inclusion Council of the Minnesota State Bar Association, and a member of the Federal Bar Association's Diversity and Inclusion Task Force. She was president of the MHBA in 2017-2018.
