Jonathan Schneider Reviews Ted Koppel's Book on Cybersecurity and America’s Power Grid
A book review by Stinson Leonard Street attorney Jonathan Schneider has been published in the most recent editions of both the Energy Law Journal and Public Utilities Fortnightly
In Lights Out, author Ted Koppel says that a major cyberattack on America’s power grid is not only possible but likely, that it would be devastating, and that the United States is unprepared.
Jonathan's review of Lights Out examines what Ted Koppel gets right and wrong about Cybersecurity. Jonathan credits Koppel and Lights Out for contributing to the discussion of the electric grid’s vulnerability to a cyberattack, but highlights inaccuracies in the book. Jonathan writes that the author’s implication that measures currently in place to address the threat of cyberattacks are grossly out of step with known risks, is wrong.
Jonathan will lead a discussion of Lights Out on Thursday, December 8, 2016 for the Energy Bar Association's Book Club. A light networking reception will precede the discussion.
Jonathan Schneider is a partner in the firm’s Washington, DC office.
