Johnny Wang Selected as 2021 D&I Award Winner by Missouri Lawyers Weekly
Stinson LLP Partner Johnny Wang was recently recognized for his commitment to diversity and inclusion in the legal profession as a 2021 D&I Award honoree from Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Wang has been heavily involved in Stinson's diversity and inclusion efforts, as well as serving on the board for the National Asian American Bar Association as Regional Governor for the Central Region.
“At the end of the day, representation is just a first step. This isn't just about belonging, but being able to make contributions to our community that allow people of all backgrounds to have successful and fulfilling careers in our profession,” said Wang. " I am honored to be recognized for my work toward improving diversity and inclusion in Missouri and in the legal profession as a whole."
In 2011, he founded St. Louis' first and only Asian American Chamber of Commerce (AACC). Wang saw a need in the community for a cohesive organization to serve as the representative for Asian-owned businesses and to promote Asian-driven business relationships. Today, the AACC, which serves corporate professionals and business owners from Asian communities in the St. Louis metro area as well as those who conduct business in Asia, has more than 150 members and continues to grow each year. He also currently serves as a bank director on the legal board for Midwest Bankcentre, where he can advocate for equity, diversity and inclusion in access to banking. Outside of his diversity and inclusion efforts, Wang is passionate about access to community services through the St. Louis County Public Library system and serves as one of its appointed trustees.
As a domestic labor and employment attorney, Wang assists clients of all sizes, from start-ups to publicly traded Fortune 100 companies on matters ranging from high-risk c-suite terminations to serving as lead negotiator during collective bargaining negotiations. He is just as comfortable in a board room as he is in the courtroom, helping his clients create unique solutions to employment problems.
