John Aisenbrey referenced in Law360 article

In the News

Stinson Leonard Street partner John Aisenbrey is mentioned in a Law360 article about a recent decision issued by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Eighth Circuit in favor of longstanding client Hallmark Cards Inc.

The lawsuit alleged that Monitor Clipper Partners LLC, a private equity firm, misappropriated confidential information via a consulting firm, Monitor Co. Group, which did research for Hallmark.  This information guided Monitor's 2005 acquisition of a Hallmark competitor, Recycled Paper Greetings, Inc., according to court documents.

Hallmark sued Monitor for breach of contract and Clipper for misappropriation of trade secrets, and later settled with Monitor for $16.6 million.  The jury in the Clipper trial awarded Hallmark $31.3 million, which was affirmed on appeal by the Eighth Circuit.
