Jennifer Allen Publishes in Quality Assurance Magazine on How to Make a Nutrient Content Claim
Partner Jennifer Allen recently published an article in Quality Assurance Magazine detailing the general rules behind nutrient-content claims on food labels and packaging.
Allen details how the FDA defines nutrient-content claims as well as the various options manufacturers have when making nutritional statements. She goes on to express the importance of product labels, as they are, for many consumers, the only information they read when making buying decisions.
"While these regulations are complex and require careful attention to detail, they are also quite simple; their purpose is to prevent manufacturers from confusing consumers or misleading them into believing a product is healthier than it really is, or that the consumer ought to purchase one product over another for health reasons when the product lacks any real health benefit."
Jennifer represents banks, mortgage lenders, small businesses, insurance companies, entrepreneurs and individuals in a variety of business litigation matters. She also focuses on food regulatory matters pertaining to FDA and USDA regulations, food labeling, additive petitions, HACCP/HARPC planning and best practices in manufacturing.
