Jennifer Allen Details the Foreign Supplier Verification Program in Quality Assurance Magazine
Partner Jennifer Allen recently published an article in Quality Assurance Magazine describing the importance of complying with Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) regulations.
In the article, Jennifer states that FSVP violations were among the top five most cited by the FDA in 2020. FSVP is mandated by the FDA's Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA) and ensures that the same preventative food safety standards apply to food consumed in the U.S. regardless of where the food is produced. Jennifer details the process that importers must follow such as hazard analysis of imported food, supplier approval and ongoing verification activities that all work to ensure food safety. Jennifer stressed that FSVP is not a one-and-done process, and noted foods that are exempt from the regulations like juice, alcohol and fish.
Jennifer represents banks, mortgage lenders, small businesses, insurance companies, entrepreneurs and individuals in a variety of business litigation matters. She also focuses on food regulatory matters pertaining to FDA and USDA regulations, food labeling, additive petitions, HACCP/HARPC planning and best practices in manufacturing.
