Five Stinson Partners Named to Benchmark Litigation's "40 & Under Hot List"
Stinson Leonard Street LLP partners Christina Arnone, Patrick Edwards, Jarrod Kieffer, Megan McCurdy and Angela Nichols were named to the 2018 "40 & Under Hot List" by Benchmark Litigation. The recognition honors the achievements of the nation’s most accomplished legal partners who are 40 years old or younger, and who have been deemed the most promising talent in their respective litigation communities by peers and clients.
Arnone practices in the firm's Kansas City office. She represents corporate policyholders in disputes with their insurers. She provides advice throughout the claims process, negotiating directly with insurers to maximize coverage and, where necessary, litigating coverage disputes. Arnone has litigated in federal and state courts throughout the country. She has represented multiple corporate clients in lawsuits alleging misappropriation of trade secrets, violation of non-competition and non-solicitation agreements, and breach of fiduciary duties.
Edwards began his career as a business litigator representing companies in business-related disputes against other companies. In recent years he has represented companies in lawsuits involving construction, employment, oil and gas, and product liability disputes. Edwards has a strong practice representing companies on collection matters for debts owed to them, and he has represented both companies and landowners in condemnation disputes related to the construction of new gas pipelines and power lines throughout Kansas. Edwards practices in the firm’s Wichita office.
Kieffer assists clients with property tax appeals. He represents both taxpayers and counties before the Kansas Board of Tax Appeals and state courts on issues relating to real and personal property valuation, equalization, and exemption matters. His experience includes all types of commercial properties, including restaurants, retail buildings, regional malls, office buildings, and casinos, and industrial facilities such as refineries, ethanol plants, chemical processing plants, and other special-use properties. Kieffer practices in the firm’s Wichita office.
For more than 10 years, McCurdy has defended major U.S. corporations in a variety of complex lawsuits and arbitrations from motion practice to discovery to trials. She focuses her practice on contract disputes, product liability defense and financial services litigation. Recently, McCurdy led the defense of multiple bank clients against multimillion dollar lender liability claims alleging breach of fiduciary duty, breach of contract, fraud, Missouri Merchandising Practices Act violations and negligence. McCurdy practices in the firm's Kansas City office and co-chairs one of the firm's business litigation divisions. She has also been recognized as an "Up & Coming Attorney" and as a Women’s Justice Award winner by Missouri Lawyers Weekly.
Nichols practices in the firm’s Kansas City’s office. She represents individuals and businesses in a variety of complex commercial litigation matters in both federal and state courts in Missouri, Kansas and other states, including California, Texas, Arizona, Illinois, Pennsylvania and New York. Nichol’s practice focuses primarily on trusts, estates and fiduciary-related litigation, and on construction litigation.
