(KANSAS CITY, Mo.) April 10, 2014 – The Boy Scouts of America — Heart of America Council presented the Kauffman Distinguished Eagle Scout Award to Stinson Leonard Street attorney David Frantze, as part of the fifth annual "Scout Day at the K." The annual award, which is named after Kansas City icon Ewing M. Kauffman, recognizes exemplary community service and the lifetime achievements of adult Eagle Scouts in the Kansas City area.

On Sunday, April 6, 2014, Frantze and several others recognized with the award gathered on the baseball field at Kauffman Stadium as the Kansas City Royals hosted the Chicago White Sox. Kauffman Stadium is home to the Kansas City Royals major league baseball team and is also named after Ewing M. Kauffman, who formerly owned the Royals. More than 12,800 Scouts and Scout families attended the "Scout Day at the K" and the game.

“The importance of community service is one of many valuable lessons that I learned as a Boy Scout, so it gives me tremendous satisfaction to contribute time and energy to the Scouts and the other deserving organizations in which I've been involved,” said Frantze. "This award means a great deal to me because it's named after someone who was an accomplished Eagle Scout and one of the greatest citizens in Kansas City's proud history. In fact, Mr. Kauffman attributed much of his success to the lessons he learned in Scouting."

Himself an Eagle Scout, Frantze has been an active volunteer and supporter of the Boy Scouts of America – Heart of America Council for more than 12 years, holding several leadership positions. In 2012 and 2013, he served as Council President. He has served on the Council Board of Directors since 2004 and the Executive Committee since 2007. Before serving on the Board, he served as the Thunderbird District Chairman for 2 years. He has also played an integral role on the Council's finance and properties committees.

In addition to the Kauffman Distinguished Eagle Scout Award, David has received several other significant awards from the Scouts, including the James E. West Fellowship Award, the District Award of Merit and the Silver Beaver Award, which is the highest award that can be bestowed by the Heart of America Council.

Outside of Scouting, Frantze serves on the Board of Directors for the Greater Kansas City Chamber of Commerce, Civic Council of Greater Kansas City, Economic Development Corporation of Kansas City, Missouri, the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society, MRI Global, Avila University and the Kansas City Area
Life Science Institute.

Frantze is co-chair of Stinson Leonard Street's Real Estate Division. He represents developers, property owners and tenants in development projects, particularly projects that include the use of development incentives such as tax increment financing and tax abatement. Frantze has served as counsel in the formation of public/private partnerships and other real estate-based economic development efforts and has been involved in some of the most high profile projects that have been completed in Kansas City in recent years – including Sprint Center, Union Station, the Power & Light District and Cerner's redevelopment of the former Bannister Mall. He also represents the Kansas City Royals Baseball Club in connection with its stadium leases and real estate activities.

Frantze is a member of the American College of Real Estate Lawyers. In 2011, Midwest Real Estate News selected Frantze to its Commercial Real Estate Hall of Fame.
