Adine S. Momoh Honored as a Finalist for ABA's Outstanding Young Lawyer Award
Stinson Leonard Street attorney Adine Momoh was recently honored as a finalist (one of two) for the American Bar Association’s 2014 National Outstanding Young Lawyer Award during the ABA’s Midyear Meeting earlier this month. Momoh is a trial attorney in the business and commercial litigation division in the firm’s Minneapolis office. Her practice includes securities litigation, estates and trust litigation and creditors’ rights and bankruptcy.
Each year the ABA recognizes an attorney who demonstrates a combination professional excellence, service to the profession and the bar, service to the community and a reputation for or the advancement of legal ethics and professional responsibility. Momoh was nominated by the Minnesota State Bar Association New Lawyer’s Section and the Hennepin County Bar Association New Lawyer’s Section for the award.
“State, county, and city bar associations from around the country submit nominations, so to be selected as one of the two finalists nation-wide is like being named the MVP of an all-star team – it's quite a feat,” said SLS partner Stefan Palys, a fellow with the American Bar Foundation and a member of the ABA’s Young Lawyers Division.
Momoh has previously been recognized both locally and nationally for her community involvement, public service and professional achievements. Most notably, in 2014, she received the Minnesota State Bar Association’s first Outstanding New Lawyer of the Year Award, was named an Up & Coming Attorney by Minnesota Lawyer, received the firm’s Pro Bono Service to the Indigent Award for her tenacity and success on a legal matter involving a mentally ill and physically disabled non-custodial father, and was selected for inclusion for a second time as a Rising Star by Super Lawyers®.
In 2013, she was named a Fellow of the Leadership Council on Legal Diversity, where she was one of 167 attorneys nationwide to be selected for this national leadership development program designed to increase diversity in the legal profession, and selected by the Midwest Region of Lawyers of Color for its inaugural “Hot List” of exemplary up-and-coming attorneys of color. Also in 2013, Momoh was featured on the front page of the Star Tribune’s Business Section with regard to her service and exemplary leadership in the Twin Cities’ community.
Most recently, in 2015, Momoh was elected to the board of Minnesota Philanthropy Partners. By serving on the board of Minnesota Philanthropy Partners, Momoh will also serve on the boards of The Saint Paul Foundation and Minnesota Community Foundation. In addition, she serves on the boards of the Minnesota Association of Black Lawyers, Federal Bar Association (FBA) National Younger Lawyers Division, FBA Minnesota Chapter, Hennepin County Bar Association, and International Women’s Insolvency and Reorganization Confederation–Minnesota Network.
She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of St. Thomas summa cum laude and received her J.D. magna cum laude from the William Mitchell College of Law. Momoh clerked for the Honorable Jeanne J. Graham of the United States District Court for the District of Minnesota.
